HRH Scholarship (Cambodian Students)

Details of the scholarship

The Scholarship’s full name is “Royal Scholarship under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the Kingdom of Cambodia”. It is given to highly proficient Cambodian nationals for higher education (Master and Ph.D.) in Thailand.

Qualifications

  • Pass the preliminary examination consisting of an English Proficiency Test and a fundamental knowledge test (Science subjects).
  • Pass the interview (by the representative from the Geotechnology Graduate Program).

How to apply and general procedures

  1. Apply here: Royal Scholarship under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the Kingdom of Cambodia. The deadline for applications is usually in early December of each year.
  2. Applicants are required to take a preliminary examination which consists of an English Proficiency Test and a fundamental knowledge test (Science subjects). The scholarship organizer will notify applicants of the time and place of the exam.
  3. Those who pass the preliminary examination will then be interviewed (in Cambodia) by a representative from the Geotechnology Graduate Program. This usually takes place in December of each year.
  4. Awarding of the scholarship will be announced within 2-3 months after the interview.

ASEAN-GMS Scholarship

Details of the scholarship

The ASEAN-GMS Scholarship is awarded to applicants from ASEAN and GMS member countries.

ASEAN consist of 9 member countries (excluding Thailand), these are: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam

Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) consist of 5 member countries (excluding Thailand), these are: Cambodia, People’s Republic of China (specifically Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Viet Nam

Qualifications

  • [Optional] Obtain a confirmation (via email) from the prospective thesis advisor. This will greatly increase the chance of being awarded the scholarship.
  • The selection of scholarship recipients is based PRIMARILY on English proficiency

How to apply and general procedures

  1. Apply at the International Affairs Division website http://iad.kku.ac.th/gms_scholarships_app/. Applications are usually open until February of each year.
  2. Awarding of the scholarship will be announced within 2-3 months after the closing of application acceptance.

Scholarship Coverage

Both HRH Scholarship and ASEAN-GMS Scholarship will cover all studying and living expenses. The amount of funding given will allow the scholarship recipient to study and live comfortably during the duration of the study (2 years for M.Sc. and 3 years for Ph.D.). The following table gives a general picture of the fundings. There may be slight variations on the items and amount depending on the scholarship type, but the overall coverage is similar.
