On May 2nd, 2025, the Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Assistant Professor Dr. Araya Chaowareungrit, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, along with its personnel, demonstrated a firm commitment to driving the university towards energy and environmental sustainability. They organized a training session on the topic of “Green Energy and Personnel Participation: Creating Change with Sustainable Energy” at the Phuengfa Room, Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University.

This significant training was honored by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Chuwong Thongkamsamut, Vice President for Physical Resources and Environment, Khon Kaen University, as the primary speaker. Dr. Chuwong shared his knowledge and vision, aligning with three key strategies of Khon Kaen University: Strategy 4: Academic Service for Social Benefit, Strategy 6: Creating a University that is a Great Place to Work, and Strategy 7: Creating a University that is a Great Place to Live.

The training content focused on integrating natural energy with modern technology to achieve the goals of increasing green spaces and reducing electricity consumption. Clear and concrete operational guidelines were presented, including:

  • Promoting the Full Potential of Solar Energy (Solar Cell): Emphasizing the installation and expansion of renewable energy use from solar power across the university to reduce reliance on fossil fuel energy sources.
  • Designing Environmentally Friendly Buildings and Landscapes: Prioritizing the design of new buildings and the improvement of surrounding university areas in accordance with energy conservation principles and the expansion of green spaces to create a shady and livable environment.
  • Managing Waste and Discarded Materials According to the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Concepts: Promoting an efficient waste management system, reducing waste volume, and reusing resources according to circular economy principles, alongside operations that consider environmental, social, and governance impacts.

Assistant Professor Dr. Araya Chaowareungrit, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, emphasized the importance of the training, stating, “This training is a crucial first step in raising awareness and understanding about sustainable energy and personnel participation. We firmly believe that through the collaboration of all personnel sectors, the Faculty of Technology and Khon Kaen University will be able to develop into a sustainably environmentally friendly organization and contribute to building a sustainable society as a whole.”

The implementation of these guidelines will not only benefit the university’s internal environment but will also demonstrate Khon Kaen University’s significant role as a leading higher education institution with responsibility towards society and the environment at both the regional and national levels.
